The harbour, the Jet d’Eau and the Mouettes
At the heart of Geneva, Lake Geneva forms a spectacular harbour watched over by the Jet d’Eau, a plume one hundred and forty metres high. You cross the harbour on the Mouettes, little yellow boats that link the two shores in minutes. It is impossible not to smile the first time. A coffee in Les Pâquis, a walk to the flower clock in the English Garden: a classic Geneva date that always works.
Bains des Pâquis and lakeside parks
On the right bank, the Bains des Pâquis are an institution: swimming, snack bar, saunas in winter and concerts at the end of the pier. On the left bank, Parc des Eaux-Vives and Parc La Grange, with its rose garden, extend the greenery as far as Cologny. People picnic, sunbathe and chat for hours. A gentle setting for a first date that only wants to go on, especially at sunset.
Up Mount Salève
From the quay, you can already see the Salève, Geneva’s balcony, on the French side. A cable car climbs in minutes to over a thousand metres, for a panorama over the city, the lake and, on a clear day, Mont Blanc. On Lyad, members from Geneva share their favourite spots; it is up to you to find someone to ride up there, keeping enough breath for conversation.
